Oliver Colvin
Services for Oliver Colvin, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003 
at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel with Father Thomas Murphy officiating. 
Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Paul Braswell, 
Buddy Floyd, Scott Floyd, Preston Willis, Clay Colvin and Timothy Wessinger. 
Honorary pallbearer is Keith Bland. Mr. Colvin died Tuesday, August 5 at 
Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born July 26, 1917 in Thomasville, he was a son of 
the late William Linton Colvin and Lovella Herring Colvin. He was married to 
Marian Guy Colvin, who survives. He lived most of his life in Thomasville, 
after retiring from CSX Railroad he loved to fish and garden sharing his crop 
with family, friends and strangers. Mr. Colvin was a member of St. Augustine 
Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Marian Guy Colvin of Thomasville; 
daughters, Judith Colvin-Hughes of Niceville, Fla., Elizabeth C. Floyd of 
Thomasville, Kathryn C. Priddy of Hahira; sons, George L. Colvin of Destin, 
Fla., John Oliver Colvin of Petersburg, Va.; a sister, Lovella C. Lindsey of 
Abbeville, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-
grandchildren; six stepchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; and many nieces 
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Elizabeth 
Colvin; two brothers, Hermond and Bill Colvin; three sisters, Edna C. Fisk, 
Lorene C. Stegall and Connie C. Paschal. The family will receive friends from 
7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and will be staying at (Address
