Hazel Juanita Collins
Services for Hazel Juanita Collins, 84, Waynesville, N.C., are at noon, 
Tuesday, July 8, 2003 in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville, 
N.C. The Rev. Dr. Robert Prince will officiate and interment is in Garrett-
Hillcrest. Active pallbearers are John, Ronald and Glenn Collins Jr., Dan 
Desjardins, Barbara Smith, Lee Starnes and Tom Tucker Sr. Mrs. Collins died 
Sunday, July 6 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Brooks County, 
Ga., she was the daughter of the late Clower and Ruth Edmonson Winters. She 
was married to Wilbur Collins, who preceded her in death in 1980. She was very 
active in the Dawson Street Baptist Church in Thomasville. Mrs. Collins was 
the first female independent insurance agent in south Georgia and was very 
successful in her career prior to moving to Haywood County. She was former 
owner and operator of Grandview Lodge. She was a member of First Baptist 
Church of Waynesville and a former Sunday school teacher. Survivors include 
three sons, Glenn Collins Jr. and his wife, Polly, of Carrollton, John Collins 
and his wife, Judy of Birmingham, Ala. and Ronald Collins and his wife, Carol 
of Dothan, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two special 
caregivers, Dan Desjardins and Barbara Smith. Visitors may sign the online
