Sarah Taylor Akridge
Services for Sarah Taylor Akridge, 78, of Meigs, are at 2 p.m. Friday, June 
27, 2003, at Meigs Baptist Church. The Revs. Jessie Alligood and Allan Pearce 
will officiate, with interment at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers 
are deacons of Meigs Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are her nephews. 
Mrs. Akridge died on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at John D. Archbold Memorial 
Hospital. Born on Feb. 2, 1925, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of 
the late Stella Kennedy Taylor and the late Oma Vernon Taylor Sr. She was an 
office manager for Dr. Merren MD and was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of 
Smith-Spence American Legion Post No. 144. She is survived by her husband, Hal 
L. Akridge of Meigs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Charlotte A. and Ray 
Coursey of Metter and Stella Akridge of Metter; two grandchildren, Justin 
Jones and Katie Jones, both of Athens; three brothers, O.V. Taylor Jr. of 
Albany, David K. Taylor of Tallahassee, Fla., and Larry K. Taylor of Pelham; 
and a sister, Voncile T. Franklin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Family will 
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham. --
