Fred R. Mellott

	Fred R. Mellott, 79, Warfordsburg, died Saturday, July 2, 1988 at the 
Fulton County Medical Center.
	Born in Flickerville, PA., he was the son of the late Daniel Carl and 
Blanche Mellott.
	He was a member of the Whip Cove United Church of Christ in 
Warfordsburg where he served as a deacon and trustee for 25 years.  He also 
served four years as president of the Juniata Association of the United Church 
of Christ.
	He had been a rural route carrier for 31 years.
	he was a veteran of World War II, having served two years in the U. S. 
Navy.
	He served 12 years on the board of directors of the Fulton County 
Medical Center, the last seven years as president.  He also served 11 years as 
president of the American Cancer Society of Fulton County, was selected as Man 
of the Year by the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, and presently was 
chairman of the board for Everett Cash Mutual Insurance Co.
	He was past exulted ruler of the Bedford Elks Lodge and served 15 years 
on the lodge's board of trustees; was past master of the James W. Bowers 
Masonic Lodge 173 of Hancock; member of Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Mosque; 
was a charter member of Warfordsburg Lions Club, where he had been second vice 
president, club president, had 29 years perfect attendance, was appointed Lions 
deputy district governor by District Governor James A. McNeil, elected district 
governor and served as chairman of the State Council of Governors; and was a 
member of the VFWE Post 665, and American Legion, both of McConnellsburg.
	He is survived by his Wife, Inez Mellott; two daughters: Audrey Johnson 
of Byron, MI.; and Mrs. Myra Hendershot of Warfordsburg; one sister, Blanche 
Harper of Black Lick, PA.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews.
	Services were held at 7:PM Tuesday, July5 at the Whip Cove United 
Church of Christ.  The Rev. Paul Westcot and the Rev. David Parker 
officiating.  Burial was mad at the convenience of the family.
	The Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
	Memorial donations may be made to the Home Nursing Agency or Hospice 
Memorial Fund, 116 W. Market St., McConnellsburg, PA.
