Warfordsburg, 72 
James Earl Bishop, 72, Warfordsburg, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Morgan 
County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. 
Born July 26, 1930, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Jesse and 
Ruth (Bishop) Bishop and the husband of Virgie A. Unger Bishop, who died 
December 14, 1987. 
He was a self-employed truck driver, retiring in 1986. 
He was a veteran serving in the United States Army from 1949-1952. 
He was a life member of VFW Post 655, a member of Fulton Overseas Veterans 
Association and the American Legion Post 561, all in McConnellsburg. He was a 
member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1483, Berkeley Springs. 
Surviving are two daughters: Jonie R. Bard, Needmore; Julie A. Unger, 
Warfordsburg; a son, James E. Bishop Jr., Warfordsburg; four sisters: Anna Mary 
Powell, Warfordsburg; Verna Lee Bishop and Dorothy L. Hovermale, Hancock; Nancy 
Jean Bishop, Breezewood; three brothers: Frank B. Bishop Sr., Hancock; Jesse R. 
Bishop, Falling Waters, W.Va.; Arthur S. Bishop, Berkeley Springs; four 
grandchildren, a step-grandson, and a great-granddaughter. 
Services will be held Thursday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m., at Cedar Grove Christian 
Church, 5806 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg. Rev. Timothy Close will 
officiate. Burial, with military graveside rites by the Fulton Honor Guard, 
will be in the church cemetery. 
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, March 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 
9:00 p.m., at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, and at the 
church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Thursday. For the convenience of family 
and friends, the funeral home will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on 
Wednesday. 
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Needmore Rescue 
Squad, c/o Ron Richards, PO Box 150, Needmore, PA 17238.
