Will of John Preston d - Oct. 28, 1858

Be it Remembered that I, John Preston of Greenwich in the County of 
Cumberland in the State of New Jersey being of sound and disposing mind
and memory do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament, in
manner and from following; to wit:

First:  It is my will and desire that all my just debts and funeral 
expenses be fully satisfied and discharged.

Secondly - I will and bequeath to my wife Hannah Preston the whole of 
my estate both real and personal, whatsoever, and wheresoever situated
to her, her heirs and assigns forever.

And lastly:  I nominate and appoint my said wife Hannah Preston my 
sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament; and I do hereby 
revoke and annul all wills by me heretofore made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 
this eighteenth day of the first month in the year of our Lord one
thousand, eight hundred and fifty six.

The change of date from tenth to sixth month and the year from fifty-
five to fifty six was made before signing.  (These had been mark 
throughs. It clearly states first so they made another mistake. MLB)

That the good Chattels & credits of said Inventory set down & specified 
were by him appraised according to there just & true respected rates &
values after the best of his judgement & understanding; and that John S.
Bacon the other appraiser whose name is thereunto subscribed, was 
presant at the same time & consented in all things to the doing thereof
that they appraised all things that were brought to their view for 
appraisement

Hannah Preston, Executrix of John Preston Decd on her oath says the 
within writing contains a true and perfect Inventory of the good,
chattels & credits of said deceased as far as has come to her knoweldge 
or possession or the possession of any of the person or persons for her 
use.

Enoch Mulfors one of the appraiers of the within Inventory on his Oath
saith that

John E. Sheppard one of the witnesses to the within will being duly
affirmed did depose & say that he saw John Preston the Testator therein
named sign & seal the same & heard him publish pronounce & declare the 
within writing to be his last Will & Testament & that at the doing 
thereof he said Testator was of sound & deposing mind & memory of said 
this testament knows & as he verly believes that David S. Mason & 
Margaret G. Sheppard the other subscribing witness was present at the 
same time & signed their names as witnesses in the presence of the
Testator

Hannah Preston, the Executrix in the within Testament named being duly 
sworn deposeth & says the within Instruments contains the true last Will
& Testament of John Preston the Testator therein named & of all the 
known said she verily believes that she will well & truly perform the
same by paying forth the debts of the deceased & the Legacies in the 
said Testament specified so far as the good & chattels & credits of 
the deceased can thereunto extend, and that the will well has exhbited
in the prerogative office ------- home & perfect Inventory of all &
singular good, chattels & credits of the said deceased that have &
shall come to her knowledge or possession & the possession of any 
other person or persons for her use & render a true & lawful account 
when thereunto lawfully required.
