                          STANCIL  BOSTON  BARWICK

 Stancil's name has been found spelled various ways such as Stancil/Stansell/
 Stanceal.  He was born July 16, 1826 in Washington County, Georgia, the son
 of John Barwick and Susannah Barwick.  He had a brother named Nathan who also
 lived in Sumter County at the same time he did and they served together in 
 the Civil War, both in the 5th Battalion, Company A, Georgia Infantry. Stancil
 was married three times.  He married (1) October 12, 1845 in Washington 
 County, Georgia to Rebecca Fowler, born November 12, 1826 in Washington 
 County, Georgia.  He married (2) July 26, 1858 in Houston County, Georgia to 
 Nancy W. Bridges.  He married (3) March 21, 1873 in Athens, Georgia to 
 Clarissa Emma Blackshear born August 30, 1847 near Americus, Georgia. There
 are conflicting genealogies as to which of his first children are by which
 of his first two wives.  However, this can be determined by trusting that his
 marriage dates are correct and that his children's birthdates are correctly  
 reported. Stancil died June 7, 1890 in Athens, Georgia, he is buried in the
 Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, Georgia.
 His children were:

 Nancy Elefaire Barwick, probably born about 1848, D: 1865, M: Mr. Allen.

 Martha Caroline Barwick, born August 6, 1850 in Dooly County, Georgia, D:
 1910 Sumter County, Georgia, buried Oak Grove Cemetery, Americus, married
 October 2, 1867 in Sumter County to George Washington Council, born October
 19, 1836 in North Carolina, died December 17, 1900, buried Oak Grove 
 Cemetery, Americus, Georgia.  He was the son of Solomon Barlow Council,
 born November 6, 1803 in Robeson County, North Carolina and his wife,
 Elizabeth Blue Council, born December 13, 1798 in Cumberland County, North
 Carolina. Their children:  Lee George Council, born August 25, 1869 in
 Sumter County, Georgia, married Florence Hildreth of Live Oak, Florida; 
 Emory Barlow Council Jr., born October 20, 1876 in Sumter County, Georgia
 married Lamartine Tower born March 7, 1885; Elizabeth Ann Council, born
 January, 1879, married Coley J. Lewis, son of Sherry Lewis and Nettie Coley
 Lewis (They were residing in Montezuma, Georgia about 1898); Charles Monroe
 Council married Eula Willingham; Lillie Council married Albert F. Bellingrath
 whose first cousin was founder of Bellingrath Gardens just South of Mobile,
 Alabama.

 Laura Etta Barwick, born 1855 Sumter County, Georgia, married A.L. Smith
 December 21, 1871 in Sumter County, Georgia.

 Sarah A. Barwick, born 1858.

 Ruth A. Bertha Barwick, born 1859 Sumter County, Georgia, married A.S. Ansley
 in Sumter County, Georgia, died august 21, 1893, buried Oak Grove Cemetery, 
 Americus).

 Jefferson Davis Barwick, born 1861 in Georgia, died 1862.

 Annie Lou Barwick, born December 26, 1873 in Athens,(Clarke County) Georgia,
 married Mr. Law.

 John Addison Barwick, born November 28, 1874 in Clarke County, Georgia, lived
 in Atlanta, Georgia.

 Joseph Ward Barwick, born September 29, 1876 in Clarke County, Georgia,
 died December 17, 1921, buried Leslie, Georgia, married Estelle "Essie"      
 Pipkin June 26, 1910.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson
 Pipkin of Sasser, Georgia and Cordele, Georgia.  Known children: (1)Stancil
 Barwick, born January 2, 1911, died February 17, 1912 gravestone in Leslie,
 Georgia reads "son of J.W. and Estelle". (2) Another gravestone reads "Infant
 son of J. W. and Estelle Barwick, 1915", (3) Joseph Barwick.

 Mary Emma Barwick, born January 21, 1878 in Clarke County, Georgia.

 Thomas Enoch Barwick, born January 20, 1880 in Clarke County, Georgia.

 Clara Elizabeth Barwick, born May 6, 1882 Athens (Clarke County, Georgia.

 William Stancil Barwick, born November 2, 1884 in Clarke County, Georgia.

 Howell Cobb Barwick, born April 3, 1887 in Clarke County, Georgia.

 Henry Grady Barwick, born December 24, 1889 Clarke County (Athens), Georgia.
