                        NATHANIEL (NATHAN) BARWICK

 Nathan Barwick was the son of John J. Barwick and Susannah Whiddon Barwick of
 Emanuel County, Georgia.  He and his brother, Stancil Barwick, and other
 Barwick relatives were residents of Sumter County a number of years. Nathan
 was living in Washington County, Georgia when he married Sarah Ann Elizabeth
 Shepherd on April 14, 1842 there. In 1860, they were residing in Isabella,
 Worth County, Georgia.  Nathan was a planter and served in the Civil War with
 his brother, Stancil, from Sumter County, 5th Battalion, Company A, Georgia
 Infantry. Nathan's will is recorded in Sumter County, probated June 1, 1874.
 It mentions only his wife, Sarah A.E.

 Sarah Ann Elizabeth Shepherd was born in Washington County, Georgia. She was
 the daughter of John and Ann Shepherd.  John Shepherd left his will in Dooly
 County, Georgia November 22, 1869.
 
 Nathan Barwick was born April 27, 1822 and died May 4, 1874, Sarah Ann Eliza-
 beth was born June 12, 1827 and died October 9, 1908.  Both are buried in
 the cemetery at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church between Americus and Leslie,
 Georgia in Sumter County.

 Their children were:

 Martha Ann Susan Barwick, born December 16, 1843, died May 12, 1881, buried
 Pleasant Grove Baptist Church between Leslie and Americus, Georgia, married
 (l) April 9, 1863 in Sumter County to John McClellan, married (2) T. D.
 James Murphy, born 1838.  It is not known which husband Martha Ann Susan's
 children are by.  They were Willie, born 1865; Mansell born 1866; Babe, born
 1869.  There may have been other children.

 Elizabeth Ava Barwick, born November 6, 1846, married December 26, 1866 in
 Sumter County, Georgia to William Harrison Harp, born October 18, 1843,
 son of James Harp and Olive Scarborough Harp. William H. Harp served in the
 Civil War in company A, 11th Regiment, Georgia. They moved to Santa Rosa,
 Florida to live. Their children were Lou Ella Harp, born april 24, 1869 in
 Leslie, Georgia; Iola Serepta Harp, born December 14, 1873 in Americus,
 Georgia; Estelle Harp, born October 19, 1879; and Florence Inez Harp, born
 1876.

 William Elson Barwick, born September 13, 1848

 Nathan S. Barwick, born September 27, 1850, died November 24, 1867, buried
 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in between Americus and Leslie, Georgia.

 Sophia Malinda Barwick, born June 21, 1854, died November 19, 1937, married
 A. A. Flowers.

 Mary Ellafaire Barwick, born July 16, 1856, married William Tanner Adams,
 born October 24, 1850, died August 10, 1903 in Washington County, Georgia,
 son of Benjamin Adams and Sarah Ardelia Tanner who had married (l)Amarintha 
 E. Duggan, five children by this marriage (2)Mary Ellafaire Barwick.  W. T.
 Adams was 2nd Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion, Company A of Georgia Infantry
 of Sumter County in the Civil War.
 Children of William Tanner Adams and Mary Ellafaire Barwick Adams were: Clara
 C. Adams born 1878 Washington County, Georgia; Irvin H. Adams born 1880;
 Nathan Joseph Adams born 1882; Oscar James Adams born 1884; Lillie Clyde
 Adams born 1887; Sarah Ardelia Adams born 1889; Calvin Emmett Adams born
 1891; Mary Winnifred Adams born 1894; and Johnnie Mae Adams born 1896, all
 children born in Washington County, Georgia.

 John Morgan Davis Barwick, born February 15, 1860

 Stancil Barlow Barwick, born February 18, 1862

 Winnifred Frances Barwick, born September 18, 1864, died October 1, 1934 in
 Sumter County, Georgia, buried Oak Grove Cemetery, Americus, Georgia, married
 James Madison Summerford, born February, 1852, died July 24, 1925, buried in
 Oak Grove Cemetery, Sumter County.  They were married September 4, 1884 in 
 Sumter County, Georgia and lived in Leslie, Georgia. The following from
 HISTORY OF SUMTER COUNTY, GEORGIA by Jack Cox......"James Madison Summerford
 of Dooly County, Georgia, married Winifred Frances Barwick of Leslie, Georgia
 on September 4, 1884.  In 1897 he purchased the plantation of J. W. Bailey
 who founded Leslie in 1884.  Mr. Summerford operated the Leslie Mercantile
 Company, dealing in general merchandise and plantation supplies, as well as
 engaging in extensive farming operations."
 The children of Winifred Frances Barwick Summerford and James Madison
 Summerford were John Bartow Summerford born September 26, 1885 died June 27,
 1917, buried Oak Grove Cemetery, Americus, Georgia; James Oscar Summerford
 born December 14, 1887 died February 15, 1961 buried Oak Grove Cemetery in
 Americus, Georgia married Rosa Sims Wade; Eula Mae Summerford born 3-1890
 married Charles Davis Little; Florrie Louise Summerford, born November 1892
 married John Turner Stephens; Bessie Winnifred Summerford born December 29 
 1896 died March 26 1986 married Walter Tinley Anderson Sr. born May 25 1891
 died December 4, 1958 both buried in Leslie, Georgia; Sarah Mildred
 Summerford born July 1899 married Guy Tribble; Joseph Madison Summerford.
 This is from HISTORY OF SUMTER COUNTY, GEORGIA by Jack Cox concerning
 William Tinley Anderson Sr. "Mr. Anderson Sr., a native of Ochlochnee,
 Georgia, came to Leslie in 1912 to accept a position in the Bank of Leslie.
 The Bank of Leslie, which was organized in 1902 as a branch of the Smithville
 Bank of the Witham System, was incorporated in 1903 and became an independent
 bank in 1904.  In 1941 a new bank was formed, the Farmers and Merchants Bank
 of Leslie, Georgia. Mr. Anderson held the position as president until his
 death December 3, 1958. He also served as president of the Georgia-Florida
 Baseball League after previously being president of the Americus Baseball
 League".

 Joseph J. E. Barwick, born October 16, 1866, died May 25, 1889, buried at
 Pleasant Grove Baptist Church between Leslie and Americus, Georgia.

 Amarintha Barwick, born October 16, 1866 (Joseph and Amarintha were twins.)

 Mary Nancy Cornelia (Nannie) Barwick, born July 19, 1869 Sumter County, 
 Georgia, died August 16, 1899, buried Pleasant Grove Baptist Church between
 Leslie and Americus, Georgia, married J. C. Myrick November 28, 1889 in 
 Sumter County, Georgia.
