                        J. E. "DAVID" BAILEY

 J. E. "David" Bailey was born January 7, 1816 in Washington County, Georgia,
 died May 8, 1892, the son of William Bailey born December 25, 1789 in South
 Carolina and Elizabeth Wimberly, born September 3, 1781 in North Carolina. 
 William and Elizabeth were married August 25, 1808, he died May 8, 1891, she
 died November 19, 1862, both died in Washington County, Georgia.  They are
 both buried in Old Sisters Church Cemetery in Sandersville, Georgia.  
 J. E. "David" Bailey was the grandson of James Bailey of South Carolina. 
 J. E. "David" was always referred to as David though he is listed in his
 Bible record as J. E. David Bailey. It has not been learned what the
 initials "J. E." stood for.

 J. E. "David" Bailey married Winnifred (Winnie) Barwick, born June 14, 1824,
 who died November 8, 1877. Winnifred was the daughter of John Barwick, born 
 June 8, 1791 in Darlington District, South Carolina and the granddaughter of
 William Barwick, both of Washington County, Georgia where their records can
 be found. Winnefred (Winnie) Barwick's known relatives  who moved to 
 Sumter County from Washington County were:  Her son, James Wimberly Bailey;
 her two brothers, Nathan Barwick and Stancil Barwick; a niece Winnifred 
 (Winnie) Barwick who married James Madison Summerford (she was daughter of
 Nathan); and another niece Martha Carolina (Callie) Barwick who married
 George Washington Council (she was daughter of Stancil).

 J. E. "David" Bailey, husband of Winnifred Barwick, married a second time
 following Winnifred's death.  His second wife was to Elizabeth Brett.  There
 were no children by his second marriage.  She is buried at Jackson Baptist
 Church, 8 miles East of Sandersville on Route 242, born April 29, 1830, 
 died June 11, 1906.

 The family of J. E. "David" Bailey and Winnifred (Winnie) Barwick Bailey 
 was as follows:

 James Wimberly Bailey, born December 16, 1840 in Sandersville, Georgia, his
 biography is shown separately on the Sumter and Washington Counties, Georgia
 U.S. GenWeb sites.

 William Green Bailey, born August 23, 1842 in Washington County, Georgia,
 died May 28, 1821 in Davisboro, Georgia, married (1) July 3, 1864 to Mary
 Wilds Pope, born May 28, 1834, died August 6, 1911, daughter of Col. Owen
 Clinton Pope and Sarah Sinquefield Pope, he married (2) August 9, 1913 to
 Mrs. Susie Vickers Deal, born 1861, died 1935.  There were no children by the
 second marriage, all children shown are by the first wife:  Edwin Erastus
 Bailey, born December 25, 1865, died July 7, 1946, married June 17, 1886 to
 Janie Armstrong Holmes; Owen Clinton Bailey, born February 14, 1867, died
 1867; Flora Anne Bailey, born October 8, 1869, died December 27, 1949 in 
 Macon, Georgia, married December 3, 1890 to Robert B. Thompson, born July
 25, 1864, died May 23, 1933, buried at Davisboro, Georgia; Mary Green Bailey,
 born April 4, 1871 in Sandersville, Georgia, died February 22, 1948 in  
 Davisboro, Georgia, married January 11, 1893 to Thomas H. Cox;  Martin Enos
 Bailey, born November 18, 1873, died August 23, 1923 in Laurens County,
 Georgia, married December 23, 1891 to Leila Duggan.

 Ezekiel Nathan W. Bailey, born February 21, 1845, died June 20, 1863-64 in
 Wilmington, North Carolina, never married (possibly a Civil War Soldier).

 Berrien Jasper Bailey, born 1847, died August 15, 1854.

 Elizabeth Susan Bailey, born April 20, 1849, died November 25, 1904 in 
 Abbeville, Georgia, married November 11, 1869 to Harris B. Pound.

 Mary Jane Bailey, born October 27, 1851, died February 6, 1879, married 
 December 17, 1874 to John F. Tanner, born October 23, 1853, died October
 27, 1932.

 George Thomas Bailey, born December 18, 1853, died 1929 in High Point, North
 Carolina, married March 4, 1889 to Julia Weeks, born December 11, 1855,
 died November 9, 1899, buried in Old Sisters Church Cemetery in Sandersville,
 Georgia.  George Thomas and Julia resided awhile in Nichols, Georgia.

 Amanda Caroline Bailey, born about 1855, died July 12, 1881, never married.

 Asa Mercer Bailey, born October 9, 1858, died July 29, 1915 in Quitman, 
 Georgia, buried in Valdosta, Georgia, married February 1, 1885 to Donie
 Patterson.

 Charles Luther Bailey, born February 6, 1861, died 1920 in Hawkinsville,
 Georgia, married December 21, 1882 to Algia Duggan and their home was in
 Hawkinsville, Georgia.

 David Alonzo Bailey, born June 8, 1863, died 1921 in Leesburg, Florida,
 married Virgie Wilcox and resided awhile in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

 Noble John Bailey, born December 1, 1865, died August 15, 1935 in
 Fitzgerald, Georgia, buried in Old Sisters Church Cemetery, Sandersville,
 Georgia, married December 1, 1885 to Theodosia J. (Docia ) Tanner, born
 April 2, 1866, died May 29, 1927, and they lived at Daniels, Georgia.
