Erick J. Gutierrez, 18, of Buena Vista, GA, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at 
Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the 
gymnasium at Marion County High School with Father George Gonzales 
officiating. Burial immediately followed in the Buena Vista Cemetery. A Mass 
was held in the Chapel of Tante at 5 pm on Friday and the family received 
friends from 6-8 p.m. at funeral home. Serving as active pallbearers were 
Jorden Ball, Erick Rosado, Richard Rosado, Chris Whitley, Michael Morrell, 
Alex Brown, Bryan Jaynes, Kaleb McVey, and Emmanuel Rosado. Honorary 
pallbearers were the coaches and players of the Marion County Middle/High 
School Football Team.

Mr. Gutierrez was born May 16, 1991, in Gainsville, GA to Jose and Maria 
Gutierrez. He began playing football at age eight and was on the varsity 
football team at MCMHS where he made his #54 very famous. Affectionately known 
to his friends and teammates as, Goot, he was a senior at Marion County 
Middle/High School.He loved his family, his friends and his teachers and will 
be dearly missed by all. 

Survivors in addition to his parents, Jose and Maria Gutierrez, include one 
brother, Alex Guiterrez, one sister, Jessica Gutierrez, all of Buena Vista, 
his maternal grandmother Soledad Silva of Mexico and paternal grandparents, 
Adan Flores and Carmen Gutierrez of El Salvador. Numerous aunts, uncles, and 
cousins also survive.

Tante Funeral Home in Buena Vista was in charge of arrangements.
