Julia Mae Melton Ford

Julia Mae Melton Ford, age 81, of Americus, Georgia died Sunday, November 25, 
2007 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 pm at 
Bethany Church in Box Springs, Georgia with Rev. Ruble Youngblood, Rev. Larry 
Johnson and Rev. Tommy McCormick officiating.  Music will be provided by Peggy 
McCormick and Marian Johnson.  The family will receive friends at the funeral 
home in Buena Vista, Georgia on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Ford was born August 17, 1926 in Columbus, Georgia; the daughter of the 
late Ola Beatrice Grace and Evans Ezra Melton. She had lived in Americus since 
l967 and was a member of Bethany Church.  She worked at the shipyard in Port 
Orchard, Washington during World War II until D-Day.  She was an LPN at Sumter 
Regional Hospital in Americus for years. In addition to her parents, she was 
preceded in death by a sister Doris Beatrice Melton Youngblood and by a 
brother Donald Douglas Melton.

Survivors include four daughters:  Martha and Ruble Youngblood of Box Springs, 
Ga., Sherry and Eddie Starcher, Brenda and Frank Johnson, Donna and Michael 
Cauley, and Janice Mooney, all of Americus; by one brother, Ralph and Johnnie 
Melton of Texas; and by five sisters:  Frankie and Bob Hodgson of Lithonia, 
Georgia, Grace and Ray Beaugrand of Griffin, Georgia, June and Hugh Hurst of 
Ellaville, Georgia, Jo Ann and Richard Powell and Jackie Bendever, all of 
Coleman, Alabama. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-
grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and by numerous nieces and 
nephews.

Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia is in charge of arrangements, with 
David Ford, Donald Kersey, Eli Layfield, Anthony Davidson, Daniel Paul, Steven 
Griffis serving as pallbearers.
