DEATH CLAIMS MRS. BOOKER
Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Americus Thursday 
morning for Mrs. W.R. Booker, 24, of Savannah, who died Tuesday at midnight at 
an Americus hospital after an illness of six months.  She was the daughter of 
A.W. Smith, Sumter county lumberman who is well-known here.  Mrs. Booker, the 
former Miss Helen Zula Smith, had lived in Americus practically all of her 
life.  Born in Watkinsville, Ga., she moved here at the age of 2, attended 
public schools in Americus, and was a member of the First Christian church 
here.  Surviving Mrs. Booker are her husband, W.R. Booker, Jr., of Savannah; 
daughter, Martha Jane Booker, and son, W.R. Booker, III, of Savannah; father, 
A.W. Smith, Americus; sisters, Mrs. Arch Helms, Americus; Mrs. William 
Washburn, Shelby, N.C.; Mrs. Freeman Bagwell, Plains; Miss Martha Smith, 
Shelby N.C.. Miss Thelma Smith and Miss Mildred Smith of Americus; brothers, 
Harrison Smith, Hoke Smith, Broughton Smith, A.W. Smith, Jr., and John Smith, 
all of Americus; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
