W. Allen, Buena Vista, Meets Death In Auto

Americus, Ga., Sept. 28

A fatal accident occurred tonight on the Ellaville highway, six miles from
Americus, when a large touring car driven by William Allen, of Buena Vista,
turned turtle without any apparent cause whatever.

Mr. Allen was instantly killed and his wife seriously injured, being caught by
the overturning automobile. Mr. Wadsworth, a traveling companion, and three of
the Allen children aboard the card escaped serious injury.

The party had spent the day in Americus and were speeding tonight to their home
at Buena Vista, 30 miles distant, when the accident occurred. The scene of the
casualty is upon one of the finest roads in Sumter County and the cause of the
accident is a complete mystery, probably resulting from some defect in the auto.

The body of Mr. Allen was carried later to his home in Buena Vista while
injured members of the party were given attention.

News of the accident telephoned here and to Ellaville brought many other
automobiles to the scene of the fatal accident. The wrecked auto lay in a
ditch beside the road.
