BIG FIRE IN RAYMOND.

Last Friday night about 11:30 the alarm of fire was given by the firing of
guns and ringing of bells, and of course the entire population of Raymond
turned out and went to the scene of excitement and destruction. The McManus
building was a big blaze, even before it was first discovered, and to save
anything from the building was next to impossible, and hence all the occupants
suffered more or less loss. Mr. McManus was the heaviest loser, as he had
about $2000, stock of goods to perish without a cent of insurance. He had,
however, $1500 insurance on the old building, but even in that he sustained a
heavy loss for he was deriving a nice revenue from rentals, considerably more
that $1500 can restore in the shape of a building. Mr. and Mrs. Blough who
lived in the second story of the building, lost everything except their
trunk. Mr. Reyman, another occupant of the second story, lost everything
except what clothes he could bustle on including his
overcoat.
