According to his Pension Record, Ephraim MORRISON was born 10 Sept 1763 at
Salem, Washington Co. NY. He served as a Private in the NY Militia and was
sent on scouting parties into the narrows of Lake Champlain and sometimes to
Ticonderoga. He was at Fort Ann when it was taken by the British and was sent
back to Salem to alert the militia and bring help. On his return at a place
called Bloody Pond, they were surrounded by British and Indians. Ephraim
stated that of the group of forty men, he and one other man were the only ones
to escape.

Ephraim married Lucretia HENDERSON in October 1781 at Salem, NY. They moved to
Seneca Co., then Cayuga Co. and about 1820, they moved to Rushford, Allegany
Co. where Ephraim died 15 October 1847. He is buried in Old West Hill Cemetery
there and his grave is marked with a Rev. War marker.
