whereas Joseph Delaplaine Martin of the City of Philadelphia in the State of 
Pennsylvania, Druggist, son of Isaac Martin & Elizabeth his Wife of Rahway in 
the State of New Jersey, & Hannah Jones daughter of Norris Jones & Hannah his 
Wife late of Philadelphia aforesaid, both deceased, having declared their 
intentions of marriage with each other before several monthly meetings of the 
People called Quakers, held at Darby in the County of Delaware in Pennsyvania 
aforesaid according to the good order used amongst them, and having consent of 
the surviving Parents & friends concerned, their said proposal of marriage was 
allowed of by the said Meeting. Now these are to certify whom it may concern 
that for the full accomplishing of their said intentions, this ninth day of 
the fifth month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & five they 
the said Joseph Delaplaine Martin and Hannah Jones appeared in a public 
Meeting of the said People, held in their Meeting house at Darby aforesaid, & 
the said Joseph Delaplaine Martin taking the said Hannah Jones by the hand did 
on this Solemn occasion openly declare, that he took her the said Hannah Jones 
to be his Wife, promising, with the Lord's assistance to be unto her a loving 
& faithful husband until death should separate them; and then in the same 
assembly, the said Hannah Jones did in like manner declare that she took him 
the said Joseph Delaplaine Martin to be her husband promising with the Lord's 
assistance to be unto him a loving & faithful wife until death should separate 
them. And moreover they the said Joseph Delaplaine Martin & Hannah Jones she 
according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband, as a 
farther Confirmation thereof did then & there to these presents set their 
hands.

And We whose names are also hereunto subscribed being present at the 
Solemnization of the said marriage & subscription have as witnesses there unto 
set our hands the day & year above written
