Barthell, Betty Louise          
DANVILLE, Ill. Betty Louise Miller Barthell, born August 20, 1926 in Danville,
died September 6, 2004 in Austin, Texas. The daughter of Opal Smith and Fay
Miller of Peoria, Ill., she was preceded in death by her husband Franklin H.
Barthell Jr. of Peoria. She is survived by her children, Nancy Fox of the
Woodlands, Texas, Franklin III of Lawrence, Kan., John F. of Denver, Colo. and
Daniel P. of Austin, Texas; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Barthell graduated
from Peoria High School and attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn.
and the University of Maryland. She was previously involved with the Kappa
Kappa Gamma Sorority and had been a docent at Laguna Gloria Art Museum in
Austin. From 1960 to 1972, Mrs. Barthell resided with her family in New Salem,
N.Y. She was a founding member of the Helderberg Workshop. Private family
services were held in Austin. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis
