Britt, Edward J.           
COHOES Edward J. Britt, 88, of Standish Street, and former resident of
Stillwater, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the Stratton V.A. Medical
Center, Albany, after a long illness. Born in Stillwater on Christmas Day
1915, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Ella Cunningham Britt. During
World War II, Mr. Britt enlisted in the U.S. Army and participated in the
D-Day invasion at Normandy. He was a textile worker for the former Reis's Mill
in Waterford for many years before retiring. He was predeceased by his
brothers, Lloyd and Raymond Britt. Survivors include his sisters and their
husbands, Jean and Albert Osborn of Stillwater, Dorothy and Thomas Santa
Barbara of Saratoga Springs; and a brother, Vincent Britt of Stillwater; along
with nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. A graveside service with
military honors will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Cemetery,
North Hudson Ave., Stillwater. There will be no calling hours. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St.
Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements by the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral
Home, Mechanicville.
