OBITUARY
Matilda Lilly, daughter of Albinus and Mehitabel Lilly, early poineers
of Dover, was born September 10, 1829 and died June 24, 1917, aged 87
years, 9 months, and 14 days.
She was married to Reuben Hall, Aug. 29, 1861. She and her father's
family became connected with the little Episcopal Church which was
organized in Dover inn 1873. Her ancestry dates back to the pilgirm
fathers who came over in the Mayflower in 1620.
Her grandfather on her mother's side, David Vincent, was a soldier in
the revolutionary war, and her grandfather on her father's side was
Bethuel Lilly, also a revolutionary soldier, who was one of the guards
at the execution of the British Spy, Major Andre, Oct. 2, 1780.
She was a faithful wife, a fond and loving mother and a kind and
generous neighbor, and her memory will long be cherished by her large
circle of acquaintances, relatives and friends. She left three
children, two daughters and one son, and had 18 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild, all of whom survive her. Rev. and Mrs. Chas. Vincent
from Washington, D.C. were in Dover to attend the funeral of Mrs.
Vincent's mother, Mrs. Reuben Hall. Peace to her remains.
