The Times Reporter - September 25th 1957
Ward D. Kerr, 57, of near Midvale, was found dead near a kiln at the Royal 
plant of the Robinson Clay Products Co. at Midvale at 10 p.m. last night. It 
is believed he suffered a heart attack while working at the plant where he had 
been employed for the past 18 years. He was born Feb. 4, 1898, in Union 
Township, the son of Gcorge and Amy Alice Pyle Kerr and at the time of death 
was residing In the same house where he was born. He spent his entire life in 
the vicinity and was a member of United Brick and Clay Worker Local 490 at the 
plant. His wife, Thelma Lewis Kerr, died in 1939. Surviving are four 
daughters, Mrs. Richard Williams of RD 1, Dennison, Mrs. Virgil Albertine, 
Mrs. Evelyn Carothers and Mrs. Milford Dessecker, all of Midvale; seven 
grandchildren; and one sister, Miss Bessie Kerr of New Philadelphia. One 
brother Is deceased. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:45 p.m. at the 
Linn- Hert Co. Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Rayment officiating. Burial will 
be in East Avenue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 
and 7 to  p m. Thursday. 

Additional Comments:
Did have one son who died in 1940, Ward Delber Kerr Jr. Not mentioned in the 
obituary. 

Ward is descended from Matthew Kerr(1734-1791) from Ireland who settled in 
Washington County, Ohio. 

Ward is my great-grandfather.
