James C. Carr, 81, Newcomerstown grocer, father of Harry T Carr of this city 
died at 10:30 Monday morning at his home on West State St. Newcomerstown, from 
complications.  He had been ill for 11 weeks.  Mr. Carr was born November 22 
1850, near Plainfield and his parents were the late Michael and Jane Carr.  He 
had been a resident of Newcomerstown for the past 38 years and taught school 
in that vicinity for 29 years.  Several years ago he opened a grocery store in 
Newcomerstown and conducted this place of business until the time of his 
death.  Mr. Carr was a member of the Newcomerstown Baptist Church.  Besides 
the widow Eliza and son Harry of this city, also survived by two other sons 
C. R. and Ernest M. Carr both of Newcomerstown, two daughters Mrs. Mary B 
Rennard and Mrs. John Stoffer, both of Newcomerstown; three brothers Clark W 
Carr of Detroit, Elias G. and George M. Carr both of Dodge Michigan and three 
sisters Mrs. Sada Hosick of Granville, Mrs. Elizabeth Sherrock of New Concord 
and Mrs. Bertha Bowman of Sonora.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 
Wednesday afternoon from the Newcomerstown Baptist church with Rev. E. C. 
Thompson in charge. Burial will be made in the Newcomerstown cemetery.
