Blanchard, Philip F.            
COLONIE Philip Franklyn Blanchard, 61, passed away with his family by his side
on Friday, September 3, 2004 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, following a
long illness. A resident of Colonie, he was born November 24, 1942 in Indian
Lake, N.Y. and is the son of Helen Blanchard and of Indian Lake and the late
Frank Blanchard. Phil was a past trustee and long time social member of the
Midway Fire Department in Colonie. He had worked as a diesel mechanic for
O'Donnell Quigley, Massaro and LB Smith. He was the fleet maintenance foreman
for the Town of Colonie, retiring in 2000. Phil loved his hometown. While on
many of his visits to Indian Lake, he often went fishing and hunting with life
long friends. Phil loved his family. Some of his best times were celebrated
with his family on their many trips to Fla. He cherished his day trips to
casinos and weeklong cruises with his wife. Phil enjoyed his girls and could
always be found helping out at a dance recital, modeling show, softball or
soccer. Always willing to help a friend, Phil was often fixing or repairing
just about anything. He will be missed by his beloved wife Cathie (Caviston)
Blanchard, whom he married in 1963; his two daughters, Lindan Blanchard Pape
and her husband Will of Houston, Texas and Sharon Kim Blanchard; his dog,
Blue. He is the brother-in-law of Carol Post (Douglas) and uncle of Katie,
Courtney and DJ. He is the brother of Wayne Blanchard (Jeanie) of Indian Lake
and uncle to Frank, Gregory and Nicki-Rose. Funeral services will be Tuesday
at 12 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd.,
Colonie (Rt 155-south of Central Avenue). Calling hours will be Monday from 4
to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midway Fire Department, 1956
Central Ave., Albany, N.Y. 12205 in memory of Philip F. Blanchard.
