Beditz, Marie F. TROY Marie F. Beditz, 83, of Troy, died peacefully and with dignity on Friday, September 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a brief illness. Born in Troy on December 28, 1920 to the late Mary (Dwyer) and Joseph Bleibtrey. Marie was a lifelong resident of the Lansingburgh neighborhood of North Troy. She was the wife of Stephen J. Beditz and sister of Ruth LaPointe, both of whom predeceased her. Marie leaves behind an extended family of relatives and friends. She is survived by her sons, Stephen of Guilderland, Joseph of Stuart, Fla. and Timothy (Barbara) of East Greenbush; grandchildren, Joseph, Richard, Matthew and Andrew; honorary grandchildren, Camryn and Joshua; many nieces and nephews and dear friends, Karen, Barbara, Betty and Gladys. Marie retired in 1983 from the Lansingburgh School District where she served as a secretary in the athletics department. She was widely known in area bowling circles and worked part-time for many years at the Alpha Lanes in North Troy where she made many friends. She bowled left-handed and had a wicked hook. In addition, no one recalls her ever losing at pinochle. Though she didn't travel extensively (with the exception of a lifetime dream trip to Ireland), she was nevertheless known far and wide as the friendliest and most welcoming person anyone had ever met. She was selfless with her time and, up to the time of her death, helped her friends attend to their doctor visits, shopping and errands. Marie leaves a legacy of love, affection and small kindnesses. She will be missed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (Corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue, Lansingburgh). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kristen Paradiso-Ricci Scholarship Fund, 24 Western Drive, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Published in the Albany Times Union on 9/5/2004.
