Bowles, Mary J.            
TROY Mary Cunningham Bowles, 86, of Eighth Avenue, Lansingburgh, died suddenly
September 21, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy. Born and raised in Troy, she
was the daughter of the late Henry W. Cunningham and Anna Meingossner
Cunningham and wife of the late Thomas E. Bowles Sr. who died January 29,
1973. Mrs. Bowles worked at the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II. She
later worked for the former Fennell Brothers Cleaners and retired from Matthew
Bender in 1987 at the age of 70. She was a former communicant of St. Patrick's
Church, Troy. Mary was devoted to her entire family, enjoyed family gatherings
and was most proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed
bowling, bocce and bingo. Survivors include her beloved children, Mary J.
Maloney of Troy, Thomas E. Bowles Jr. (Angele) of Loudonville, Janet Svec
(Paul) of Halfmoon, William Bowles (Cynthia) of Lansingburgh, Nancy Deans
(John) of Watervliet, Donald Bowles (Millie) of Waterford; and daughter-in-law
Barbara Bowles of Lansingburgh; her dear sister, Rita DiPace of Albany; 15
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mary was
predeceased by her son, Richard Bowles; sisters, Anna Carroll, who died July
21, 2004, Theresa Kannar and brothers, John and Henry Cunningham. Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home,
109th St. and Third Ave., Lansingburgh. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery,
