Altieri, Gerard J.         
BENNINGTON, Vt. Gerard J. Altieri, 54 of Bennington Vermont, formerly of
Niskayuna, N.Y., died Monday September 13, 2004 following a courageous battle
with cancer. Jerry was born November 26, 1949 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He attended
college at State University of NY Oswego and obtained his Juris Doctorate
degree from Western State University, College of Law, in San Diego,
California. He served in the US Air Force in the Vietnam War. Jerry practiced
law in Schenectady, N.Y. working for the Schenectady County Public Defender's
office and then opened his private law office practice in Bennington, Vermont.
He also worked as an attorney for the State of Vermont for many years. Jerry
is survived by his mother, Helen Gilbert; aunt Frances Thompson of Highland,
N.Y.; his twin brother, Kenneth Altieri of Esopus, N.Y.; sister Marie
(Altieri) Tyler and her husband Ron Tyler of Highland; his sister, Virginia
(Vidge) Altieri and her partner Jill Johnson of Houston, Texas; his daughter,
Kaitlyn Altieri and her mother Kristine Kelley of Niskayuna, N.Y.; and his son
John Altieri and his mother Christina Altieri of Arlington, Vermont. Jerry is
also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was
predeceased by his father, Jack Altieri, in 1989. Jerry will be remembered for
his love and devotion to his children Kaitlyn and John, his unwavering sense
of humor, his love for fishing and baseball and the N.Y. Yankees. Memorial
contributions may be made to Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.;
the American Cancer Society, or the Hospice organization. Jerry's family would
like to thank the medical staff of Vassar Brother's Hospital for the devoted
care they provided. Services were private by the family's request.

Highland, N.Y.
