Conway, William F.         
ALBANY William F. Conway, Esq., 89, died Saturday, September 25, 2004. Born in
Albany, he was the son of the late Dr. William F. and Lucy McCormack Conway.
He was a 1932 graduate of the former Vincentian Institute and 1936 graduate of
Georgetown University. Mr. Conway received his law degree in 1939 from Albany
Law School and was admitted to the Bar that year. He practiced law his entire
career in Albany and became one of the most respected trial lawyers in the
State of New York. Mr. Conway spent over 40 years with the firm of DeGraff,
Foy, Conway & Holt-Harris. He was a former assistant to the New York State
Board of Law Examiners and past president of the board of Child's Hospital. He
was a member of the Fort Orange Club, Wolferts Roost Country Club and Schuyler
Meadows Country Club. Mr. Conway was an avid golfer, boater and skier. As a
young man, he became the youngest Eagle Scout in the country and it was then
he developed his lifelong love of bird watching. He was the beloved husband of
Arlene Conway; dear father of Dr. William F. Conway Jr. of Glenmont, Gerard L.
Conway of Guilderland, John E. Conway of Chicago, Elaine R. Conway of Delmar,
Edward P. Conway of Denver, Gayle C. Doyle of Delmar, Lawrence Conway of
Albany, Mary Lucy Cook of Ala., Thomas A. Conway of Delmar, Rita C. Conway of
Albany, Laura G. Conway of Glenmont, Christopher M. Conway of Middleburgh and
Brian M. Conway of Warrensburg; brother of the late Marjorie Quinn; he had 33
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services Tuesday at 10:00
a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 4:00 to
7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Agnes
Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Mr. Conway and his family in a special way
