Mrs. Siberia Cox Bennett
Piedmont --  Services for Mrs. Siberia Cox Bennett
of Piedmont, who was noted for her education and
civic contributions, were Friday at First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Robert Calvert officiating.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery with Mickelsen Brown
Service Mortuary in charge.   

Mrs. Bennett, 76, died Tuesday at Gadsden Health
Care Center in Gadsden, Ala.,

Survirors include a daughter, Mrs. Susan Boyd of
Gadsden, a son Brooks of Thomaston, Ga., two
sisters, Mrs. Pauline Gibson of Charlotte, N. C.,
and Mrs. Mignon Powell of Willford, S.C., a brother
J. J. Cox of Shelby, N.C., and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers wil be Roy Jennings, Ed Allen, Hughes
Roberts, Gordon Wooddy, Fain Love and Ed Parker.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First
Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bennett was a native of South Carolina and a
resident of Piedmont for most of her life.  A member
of First Baptist Church, she was a retired school
teacher of the Piedmont school system and a past
president of the PTA.  She was a member of the
Piedmont Study Club and organized the Pro-to Study
Club.  She was a member of the Piedmont Library
Board and also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma
Teacher's Sorority.  She was very active with the
Girl Scouts and was instrumental in building the
first Girl Scout house in Piedmont.  She was a home
economics teacher at the YMCA in conjunction with
the Travel Club.  She was the First Baptist Church
nursery coordinator and in 1953 was elected the
first Woman of the Year in Piedmont.

The family suggests memorial contributions to First
Baptist Church nursery.
