A Noble Woman Passes Away

Mrs. Rebecca Pruitt Allen died at her home in this
city Wednesday night at 6:30 o'clock after a
protracted illness. Her condition had been known to
be hopeless for sometime but she awaited the end
fearlessly.

The funeral will be held at the home Friday morning
at 10 o'clock, the exercises to be conducted by Rev.
W. W. Arnold, pastor Thomaston Baptist church. The
interment will be in Glenwood cemetery.

The deceased was 68 years and six months old. She
leaves the following children: Dr. M. Y. Allen, of
Moultrie, Mrs. W. E. Adams, Thomaston, Messrs W. S.
Allen and H. S. Allen of Atlanta, Mrs. W. A.
Gilreath, of Atlanta, Dr. W. P. Allen, of Woodbury,
Mr. R. W. Allen, of Atlanta. She also has two
brothers, Mr. S. Y. Pruitt, of Thomaston and Mr. P.
H. Pruitt, of San Antonio, Texas.

Mrs. Allen was the relict of the late Col. J. Y.
Allen, who preceded her to the grave three years
ago. She was a member of the Thomaston Baptist
church and dearly loved the church. She was indeed
a noble christian woman whom everybody loved. She
was devoted to her family and in turn was idolized
by its members.

The people of Thomaston and vicinity deeply
sympathize with the bereaved relatives and offer
condolence in their great loss.
