  JOHN B. FLOYD, M.D.,  Belleville, Mifflin county, Pa., was born in Belleville, 
November 8, 1848.  He is a son of Rev. Moses and Arietta (Steely) Floyd.  Mrs. 
Floyd was of German descent, her husband of Scotch-Irish ancestry.  His 
birthplace was County Donegal, Ireland;  he attended college at Belfast, after 
which he came to America and took a thorough theological course at Princeton.  
Dr. Floyd was one of a family of three sons and two daughters.  He attended the 
public schools and later the Kishacoquillas Seminary.  After this he attended 
the Military College at Allentown, Lehigh county, under Professor Hoffard.  He 
took his professional course at the Jefferson Medical College, of Philadelphia, 
graduating in the class of '73.  He began the practice of his profession in 
Jacksonville, Centre county.  Remaining there but a short time, he removed to 
Reedsville, thence to Allegheny City, Pa., and thence to Allensville, Mifflin 
county, where he practiced for two years.  In 1880, he came to Belleville, where 
he has been very successful.  Dr. Floyd is an active member of the Mifflin 
County Medical Society, and of the Medical Society of Pennsylvania.  He is a 
Democrat, and is interested in all that concerns the welfare of his town.  Dr. 
Floyd belongs to McVeytown Lodge, No. 376, F. and A.M.
  John B. Floyd was married in October, 1874, to Maggie J., daughter of David 
and Jane (McElhenny) Weiler.  Their children are:  Carrie Jane and Henry S., 
twins, of whom the former was burnt to death in the burning of a barn;  Arietta;  
Mary and Laura, twins, who lived six months and died four days apart.  Dr. Floyd 
and family attend the Presbyterian church.  Mrs. Floyd's parents, Mr. And Mrs. 
Weiler, were both natives of Pennsylvania, and spent the greater portion of 
their lives at Belleville.  Mr. Weiler was engaged in tanning and in farming.  
He was a Democrat and a respected citizen.  Mrs. Floyd was their only child.  
Mr. And Mrs. Weiler are both dead.
