  DANIEL BAKER, deceased, was born October 25, 1817, in Snyder county, Pa.  He 
was a son of John and Margaret (Reitz) Baker.  John Baker was thrice married;  
by his first wife he had two children: his second wife was Margaret Reitz;  
their children are:  Sophia;  Mary;  Elizabeth;  Sarah;  Margaret;  Daniel;  
Frederick;  John;  David.  John Baker's third wife was Mrs. Rowe;  they had one 
child.
  Daniel Baker attended the district schools, and remained with his father until 
he reached manhood.  He came to Mifflin county in 1855, and settled in Derry 
township.  He was a Republican.  Daniel Baker was married, January 2, 1841, to 
Susanna, daughter of Henry and Magdalena (Brouse) Ritter.  Their children are:  
Martha, deceased;  Susanna, deceased;  Sophia (Mrs. William R. Treaster), of 
Snyder county;  Sarah (Mrs. Joseph Shirey);  Joseph;  Catharine (Mrs. Andrew 
Wender);  Mary Margaret (Mrs. Jacob Richard);  and H. Albert, who married Sallie 
Wherley.  Daniel Baker was a member of the Presbyterian church.  He died in 
1881.
  Joseph Baker, son of Daniel Baker, was born March 12, 1850, in Snyder county.  
His parents removed to Mifflin county when he was three years old.  Having been 
educated in the public schools, he remained on his father's farm, of which he 
has had the entire charge since his father's death.  He is a Republican.  Joseph 
Baker was married to Mary A., daughter of John and Jane Burkheimer.  Their 
children are:  S. Fannie;  and Nellie J.  Mr. Baker is a member of the 
Presbyterian church.
