Donald E. Buncie, 81, of Irwin, formerly of Latrobe and Venice, Fla., died Thursday,
June 4, 2009, at home. He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Hempfield Township, a son of
the late George and Thelma Dias Buncie and was also preceded in death by his first
wife, Betty June (Forsha) Buncie; and siblings, George, Richard "Dick" and Barbara
Buncie. He was a retired purchasing manager for Hanlon & Wilson Co., Jeannette, a
former supervisor for Vulcan Mold & Iron Co., Latrobe. He was a member of Holy
Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, and charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran
Church, Latrobe, a member of Venice Lodge No. 301 and Shidle Lodge No. 601, Free and
Accepted Masons, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the National Slovak Society. Mr. Buncie
was a scoutmaster for the Cub and Boy Scouts with Cub Scout Pack 301 and Boy Scout
Troops 306 and 982, a Navy veteran of WW II, received the Purple Heart and was a
member of the American Legion of Latrobe and the VFW of Pleasant Unity. Surviving
are his wife, Mildred A. "Millie" (Lehosky) Fulmer Buncie; children, Donald E.
Buncie Jr., of Ocala, Fla., David D. (Sheila) Buncie, of Ligonier Township, and
Dennis J. (Debbie) Buncie, of Ocala, Fla.; stepchildren, Becky Jo Kemerer, of
Westmoreland City, and Gary (Sharon) Fulmer, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Donald
III and Benjamin Buncie, Monica Shoemaker, Jennifer Peterson, Michele Burrow and
Todd, Jason, Jeff and Daniel Buncie; step-grandchildren, Eric, Gary and Rick
Roberts, Steve and Jonathan Kemerer, Rachel Fulmer and Craig Kerfonta; nine
great-grandchildren and three great-step-grandchildren; siblings, Roy Buncie, of New
Jersey, Evelyn Buncie, of Bradenville, and Margaret "Peg" Knupp, of Bovard; also
nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at
the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200, where funeral
services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with Dr. Clifton J. Suehr officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery,
Youngstown. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
