New Castle News, March 18, 1908
George Steffler, one of the well-known farmers of this 
vicinity died at his home in Wurtemburg, Saturday, aged 68 
years.  Sometime ago, he had a stroke of paralysis, although 
an attack of hiccoughs was the immediate cause of his death.
     He was buried Monday in Slippery Rock cemetery, the 
funeral services being conducted by the Rev. Charles Bell.  
The pallbearers were his nephews, Frank, John, William, and 
Robert Steffler, William and Bert Cunningham.
     Mr. Steffler was born and spent his entire life in this 
vicinity; living about 5 miles from Ellwood City up to 
several years ago, when he moved to Wurtemburg, where he 
resided until his death.  He was a life-long member of the 
Slippery Rock Presbyterian church and was a conscientious 
christian, who proved his profession by a truly upright 
life.
     He was a veteran of the Civil war, serving as a member 
of Company G, 168th Pennsylvania volunteers. He leaves to 
mourn his loss, his wife, and three children:  Mrs. Jennie 
JACKSON of Moravia, and William and Charles STEFFLER who 
reside near Zelienople.
