New Castle News, January 5, 1909
A resident of this city for a number of years past, and
previous to that, of Moravia for many years, Mrs. Mary
Jackson, widow of David Jackson, died early Tuesday morning
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nettie REED, in McDonald,
Pa., near Pittsburg. For some years, Mrs. Jackson had
resided in this city with her daughter, Mrs. Archie MORNES,
of West Clayton Street. About the week before Christmas she
went to McDonald on a visit to Mrs. Reed. Shortly
afterward, she was stricken with paralysis, and death came
at 2 o'clock this morning.
Mrs. Jackson was 76 years of age, and was widely and
favorably know in the vicinity of Moravia, where she had
lived for a long time. Since the death of her husband, she
had resided with her daughter in this city. She was
formerly a member of the Moravia Presbyterian church, but at
the time of her death, was identified with the Mahoningtown
church of that denomination.
She leaves to mourn her loss, five children, who are
Dr. E. D. JACKSON of Mahoningtown, Mrs. Archie MORNES of
this city, Mrs. Bessie BANNON of West Pittsburg, Mont and
Robert JACKSON, both of Moravia. The remains will be brought
to this city some time Wednesday, and will be taken to the
Mornes residence on West Clayton street. Mrs. Mornes, who
had been in McDonald since the beginning of her mother's
illness, had returned to this city Saturday night. She left
Tuesday morning for McDonald, and will return Wednesday.
The hour of the funeral services will be announced.
