Morrow died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George F. McConnell, 1308 Cunningham avenue, Saturday morning, April 12. He had been ill only since Wednesday of this week, having suffered a stroke at that time. Mr. Morrow was born October 1, 1832, being 80 years old last October. He was a son of the late Adam and Cathryne Morrow of Wayne township. He was born and spent his life in Lawrence County, being a blacksmith in his earlier days, and residing on his farm near Moravia for several years. He helped to build the Moravia Presbyterian Church, and was one of its first elders. He has been a member of the Central Presbyterian church since he has lived in New Castle. He was married in 1867 to Miss Margaret McConahy, who died March 15, 1893. Mr. Morrow is survived by three children and five grandchildren. The children are Mrs. James P. Book of Rose Stop in Shenango township, Charles L. Morrow of Freedom, and Mrs. George F. McConnell of Cunningham avenue, at whose home he died. He also leaves one brother, Charles Morrow of Moravia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the residence and interment will be made at Slippery Rock. The funeral of G. V. Morrow took place yesterday morning, services being held at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. George McConnell, 1308 Cunningham avenue. Rev. A. B. McCormick, pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the service. The pallbearers were Samuel Crawford, Frank Morrow, Charles Wilkison, David Ritchie, Robert Wilkison, and Charles Hopper. Interment was made in Slippery Rock Cemetery. Additional Comments: Originally submitted May 2004. Mrs. James P. Book was my great-grandmother, Sierra Nevada Morrow. Mrs. George F. McConnell was Matilda Gertrude Morrow. Charles L. Morrow, his son, was married to Ada Riddle. The five grandchildren mentioned would probably have been Margaret Annetta Book (my grandmother), Marybelle Book, Georgianna McConnell, Frederick McConnell, and Samuel Morrow. Charles Morrow, his brother, was married to Matilda A. McConahy, sister of George's wife, Margaret. Pallbearers were his nephew, Frank R. Morrow, son of Charles Morrow; David Ritchie, likely a brother of Emeline Ritchie, wife of Frank R. Morrow; Charles and Robert Wilkison, who was probably related to his wife's sister, Rachel, who married Samuel Wilkison/Wilkinson; and Charles Hopper, son of his niece, Susan Morrow Hopper. Charles' mother was Cathrine Van Eman, daughter of Nicholas Van Eman, Jr. and his first wife, Catherine Riddle.
