New Castle News, July 20, 1954
Carl Gardner, aged 61, of 1927 Pennsylvania Avenue, 
died at his residence today following a lingering illness. 
Born in this city, February 5, 1893, he was a son of Victor 
and Manda Ott Gardner. Surviving are his widow, Julia 
Gardner; his children; M. Sgt. Victor Gardner, Germany; Mrs. 
Jean Nail, Mrs. Margaret Fennell, Jackaline, all of this 
city; Sgt. Carl Gardner of Korea; Joseph and Elmer Gardner 
of this city; a brother Victor Gardner this city; two 
sisters, Mrs. Nettie Thomas this city, Teresa of California; 
two grandchildren.
