New Castle News, December 31, 1928
John Velker, aged 74 years a former resident of New Castle 
died in Struthers, O. on Sunday .........  reside in 
Struthers, twenty-three years ago, where he was the 
proprietor of Velker's Confectionery of that place. He was a 
member of the United Presbyterian church of Struthers and 
was a charter member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge of New 
Castle, also the P. H. C.

Surviving him are his wife, Margaret Velker, and two sons, 
Thomas J., of Struthers, and Paul, of Youngstown. He also 
leaves three half-brothers, Frank HETRICK, of Nebraska, and 
J. C. and Charles HETRICK, of New Castle, and two 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 2, at 
1:30 p. m. from the home of his son, Thomas J. Velker, 66 
Hawthorne Street, Struthers, with Rev. Carson officiating. 
Burial in Lake Park cemetery.
