Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Anstrom-Gustafson-Velker Funeral Home for Clyde N. Johnson, 80, of 45 W. Avondale Ave., who died of complications of a stroke Tuesday evening in Southside Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was born May 8, 1913, in Youngstown, a son of Axel and Hulda Skoog Johnson. He had worked more than 50 years as a self-employed heating contractor. He was a Protestant and a 1931 South High School graduate. He was an Army veteran of World War II, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Bronze Star. He leaves his wife, the former Minnie McCreary, whom he married Aug. 24th, 1942; a sister, Mrs. Jane Lutz of Poland; a brother, Alfred in Florida. A sister Miss Helen, died in 1964. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Additional Comments: Originally submitted May 2004.
