Price sharimprice@softhome.net January 25, 2024, 9:41 am The New Castle News (PA), 11-04-1975 LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - Russell Gail (Scratch) McCreary, Sr. of Lowellville, RD2, Mahoning Township, Lawrence Co, was dead on arrival at Sharon General Hospital at 12:14 p.m. on Monday after he was stricken with an apparent heart attack while delivering concrete to the Sharon Steel Company's Farrell plant for the New Bedford Concrete and Supply Co. He was born in Lawrence County, Pa., on April 11, 1933 to Gail B. and Helen Grace Kuhn McCreary. He had been employed for the past five years as a truck driver by the New Bedford Concrete and Supply Co. Mr. McCreary was a member of Kings Chapel United Methodist Church of New Castle, and was a member and Steward of Teamster's Local 261 of New Castle. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gail B. McCreary of Lowellville RD2; his wife, the former Evelyn Heath, whom he married on June 18, 1959; a son Russell Gail, Jr. and a daughter Marcia Eilene, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Horchler of Johnstown, Pa., and Mrs. Hugh W. (Sarah) Brown of Austintown, Ohio. Friends will be received at the Lowellville Chapel of the Cunningham Funeral Home, in Lowellville, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. The service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Daivd Snyder of the Edinburg Christian Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in New Bedford.
