New Castle News (PA), 07-01-1940
Found by police in a serious condition on Moravia street, 
Sunday evening at 6:05 o'clock, Carl McCreary, aged about 51 
years, a transient, died at 11:05 p.m. Alcoholic poisoning 
was the cause of death, Coroner T. Frank Nugent stated, 
evidence having been found that the man had been drinking 
rubbing alcohol. He is said to leave a brother in 
Youngstown, and efforts were being made today to get in 
communication with the brother.

McCreary Funeral Time 

The body of Carl E. McCreary has been removed to the Joseph 
B. Leyde mortuary, Highland at Winter, where funeral 
services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, 
with Rev. J. M. Cottrell, pastor of the North Side Community 
church, in charge.  Interment will be made in Lawrence Co. 
cemetery. Mr. McCreary passed away Sunday night at 11:20 
o'clock in the Jameson Memorial hospital.  He was born in 
Lawrence county, son of Miller and Melissa Kelley McCreary. 
He leaves the following children:  Grace of Akron, O., 
Lucille and Kenneth of Detroit, Eugene and Elsie of 
Pittsburgh:  and the following brothers and sisters: Charles 
of Youngstown, Joseph of Struthers, Mrs. Elsie Downes of 
Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Mae Ludwig and Mrs. Mary Liston, both 
of Youngstown.

Funeral services for the late Carl E. McCreary, were 
conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the Joseph 
B. Leyde mortuary, Highland at Winter, with Rev. J. Miles 
Cotrell, pastor of the North Side Community church 
officiating. Two beautiful selections were sung during the 
services by the Cottrell children. Relatives of the deceased 
were pallbearers.  Interment was made in the Lowellville, 
O., cemetery.
