Price sharimprice@softhome.net January 25, 2024, 8:00 am New Castle News (PA), February 15, 1905 Joseph McCreary, one of the oldest residents of the county, died about 10 o'clock Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John McGraw, of Mahoning township. He was in the 89th year and dissolution was caused by a severe attack of the grip, from which his great age prevented recovery. He had been ill about three weeks and slowly grew weaker and weaker until the flickering spark of life was extinguished, to the sorrow of many friends. He had for many years been a member of the Westfield Presbyterian Church and was one of it's staunchest supporters. His wife preceded him in death some years ago, and he is survived by the following children: Mrs. John McGraw, of Mahoning township, at whose home he had resided for the past six years; Mrs. Alfred Davis, of Warren, Pa; Miller McCreary and Mrs Clara A. McFate, of Hillsville; John C. McCreary, of Youngstown; and James M. McCreary, of Book's Run. Mr. McCreary was a man who was respected by all who knew him and he had long occupied a prominent place in the community where his life was spent, so that the grief over his death will be general. Funeral services Friday morning from the McGraw home and interment at Hillsville. Coaches from Offutt's. Additional Comments: Originally submitted May 2004.
