Price sharimprice@softhome.net January 24, 2024, 4:19 pm The New Castle News, New Castle, PA, 09-11-1954 Hugh (Doc) McCreary, aged 73, of Hillsville, Pa., died in the Jameson Memorial Hospital on Friday following an illness. Born in Hillsville, May 2, 1881, he was a son of Ransom and Julia Boyle McCreary. He had resided in Hillsville all his life. Mr. McCreary had been an employee of the Cunningham furniture store in Lowellville, O., for 30 years until his retirement seven years ago. Prior to World War I, he operated a jitney service from Lowellville to Bessemer. The deceased was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Miller McCreary some years ago. He was a member of Hillsville Methodist church. Surviving are one son, Dr. Fred R. McCreary, Erie, one sister, Mrs. Fred McBride, Hillsville. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Cunningham funeral home in Lowellville with the Rev. James Williamson of the Edinburg-Hillsville Methodist churches in charge. Interment will be at Hillsville. Friends may call at the Cunningham funeral home in Lowellville this evening and Sunday afternoon and evening. *Note: There are no stones at the Hillsville Cemetery for Hugh McCreary or his wife Mattie Miller McCreary.
