Juniata sentinel. (Mifflintown, Pa.): January 11, 1871
At his residence in Lewistown, Pa., Jan. 6th, 1871, Hon. Ephraim Banks, in the 80th
year of his age. Judge Banks was born four miles east of this place, Jan. 17, 1791,
and was therefore at the time of his demise, eleven days less than eighty years of
age. He married and settled in this place, and in 1818 was Commissioned and
appointed by Gov. Findley, Prothonatary of Mifflin county. While in discharge of the
duties of his office he studied law and was admitted to practice in 1822. He was a
member of the Legislature of the terms of 1826-27 and 28 ; was elected a member of
the Convention that reformed the Constitution of Pennsylvania in 1838; elected
Auditor General of the State in 1851; re-elected 1854 ; elected Associate Judge of
Mifflin county Oct. 1866, which office he held at the time of his decease...
