GAUT DIES SUDDENLY Funeral Wednesday For Charleroi Man- Was Prominent In Politics of County William R. Gaut, aged 66 years, one of the best known citizens of Charleroi and active in fraternal and political circles in many years, died suddenly yesterday morning at 9 o'clock in the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. R. Kent, 323 Meadow avenue, Charleroi. His death was caused by a cerebra hemmorrhage. Mr. Gaut was born in Irwin Westmoreland County, and for many years had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He had followed railroad contracting and also had worked in the Southwest. About 30 years ago he came to Charleroi and for several years was proprietor of the Hotel Walfred there. He was a republican and active politically both in local and County affairs. He had served for several years as a member of the Republican County Committee and at various times as a member of the County Executive Committee. Until recently he had been an investigator in the Department of Revenue. Mr. Gaut was an active member of fraternal organizations, being affiliated with the Elks, Moose and Eagles lodges at Charleroi. He leaves his wife, a daughter Mrs. W. R. Kent; two sons, W. Gray Gaut, of Charleroi, and John Gaut of Worcester, Mass. Funeral services will be held in the Kent home, 323 Meadow avenue, Charleroi, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
