AGED CIVIL WAR VETERAN IS DEAD AT CHARLEROI---
WILLIAM GEHO, 89 years old, was in Battles of Bull Run and Gettysburg -
Served in West Virginia Unit.

Charleroi, PA April 24-  WILLIAM GEHO a Civil War veteran and a pioneer
resident of Charleroi, aged 89 years, died today at the home of his son,
HARRY GEHO, 520 Washington avenue at 2:30 o'clock.  Mr. GEHO was born at
Woods Run, September 4, 1832 [Note: son of JOHN & ELANOR GEHO], and was a
resident of that community the greater part of his life.  In 1856 he married
ELIZA KENNEDY and moved to Charleroi in 1894, having been a resident of this
borough for 28 years.  He enlisted in Company I 5th West Virginia Infantry,
April 27, 1861, and served for three years and three months.  He took part
in the battles of Bull Run and Gettysburg.  While in the service, he
received a medal for marksmanship, being one of the best marksmen in his
company.  He was discharged from the service April 28, 1864.  Mr. GEHO was
the second oldest man in Charleroi, being surpassed only in years by GILBERT
UPTGRAFT, another Civil War veteran, who is aged 92 years.

Three daughters survive: Mrs. (PEARL J.) J. W. MATHIAS, Miss JENNIE GEHO,
Miss SARA GEHO, all of Charleroi; two sons HARRY WILSON GEHO, of Charleroi,
and RICHARD(? Should perhaps read ROBERT) GEHO; [other children not noted,
and probably pre-deceased: EDMOND, EVA, AMBROSE]; 16 grandchildren and 13
great grandchildren. Mr. GEHO was a member of the First Christian Church of
Charleroi.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock
in charge of Rev. F. G. LAKE, with interment in the Monongahela Cemetery.
