Petition for Letters of Administration and Administrator's Oath - Courier

To the Surrogate of( crossed out and repaced with County ?Clerk?) of the
County 
of Stueben:
          The Petition of   Jonathan Murwin of Caton, Stueben ----off page

Respectfully Sheweth That  Adrian Carley -? then an inhabitant of the County
of Stueben died in the town of Caton in the county of Steuben on or about the
3rd day of September, 1847 that he left Abigail Carley his widow who is
insane--- off page Harriet Ann, wife of your petitioner of Caton --- off page
and Darius Carley his son, of Chicago in the state of Illinois - his children
- him surviving:  that he died from sickness and left no Will so far as your 
petitioner has been able to discover or has heard:  that in the opinion of
your petitioner the whole of the personal property left by the said Adrian
Carley -- will not amount in value to more th---(an --) eight hundred --

Your petitioner in the sight of his said wife - The said Darius Carley having 
renounced his right to the admin--- --?--, by instrument under seal --
which is hereto ammended ---

Know all men by these presents that we - Jonathan B. Murwin & William Carley
of the town of of Caton, and William Albright of the town of Bath   are held
and firmly bound unto the people of the State of New York, in the su(m) of
sixteen hundred - dollars, lawful money of said Sta(te) to be paid to the said
people, for which payment well and truly to be made, we bi(nd) ourselves and
each of us, our, and eachof our heirs, executors, and administrator(s) jointly
and severally, firmly by these presents:  Sealed with our seals, and dated
th(is) 13th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousan(d) eight
hundred and  forty nine --

The Condition of this Obligation to such, that if the above ?????? 
Jonathan B. Murwin - administrator --    of all and singular the good(s)
chattels and credits of Adrian Carley - deceased, shall execute the trust
reposed in him as such, and also that he shall obey all orders of the
Surrogate of the County of Stueben, touching the administration of the estated
committed to him then this obligation to be void, other (?) to be and remain
in full force and virtue.

Adrian, eldest son of Jo(h)nathan and Jenny Gray Carley of Sidney, Deleware
Co., NY.  Jo(h)nathan son of Abraham and Susannah (unknown) Carley of Wilton,
CT.  Susannah was remarried after Abraham's death to Thaddeus Gray in 1759,
Weston, CT.
