Will of Thomas Patterson
I Thomas Patterson, now residing with my son Isaac Patterson, in Cumberland 
Township, Green County Pennsylvania, being of sound mind and memory, do make 
and publish this my last will and testament, hereby expressly revoking all 
former wills by me made, I bequeath and dispose of my estate, real and 
personal, as follows to wit.  To my son William B Patterson I give and 
bequeath eighty acres of land situated west of his residence in Henry County 
Iowa, it being the land I purchased from Hillyard H for which I now hold a 
deed, to my six children, Daniel T. Patterson, Thomas Patterson, Mary Ann 
Johnson, Emeline Barclay, Isaac Patterson, and Lucinda Miles, I give the sum 
of three thousand dollars each.  Two thousand of the bequest I direct my 
executor hereinafter named, to pay to each one soon after my death, and all 
notes and obligations now held by me against any of them, I direct to be 
counted in the payment of said two thousand dollars, the balance of one 
thousand dollars to each I direct my executor, hereinafter named to pay as 
soon as he can make sale of the farm on which Haise Alison now resides, but 
the payment shall not be deferred longer than three years from my death.  --- 
To my grandson Thomas Patterson, son of Isaac, I give and bequeath my watch, 
the residue and remainder of my estate, real and personal, after the payment 
of my debts and funeral expenses I give and bequeath to my son Isaac Patterson 
(expecting to make my house with him while I live) provided nevertheless he 
shall pay to the Boards of Home and Foreign Missons of the Cumberland 
Presbyterian Church of the United States the sum of one thousand dollars 
each.  The same to be paid before the final settlement of his account as 
executor of this my last will I hereby constitute and appoint my son Isaac 
Patterson executor of this my last will and testament and hereby expressly 
authorize and empower him to sell and convey any property the same as I could 
if living.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 
11th day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Thomas Patterson, in 
our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us to be his last will and 
testament, and we at his request, and in his presence have signed our names as

Personally appeared before me J.L. Yoders, Register for the Probate of wills 
and granting letters of administration, in and for the said county of Greene 
Jeremiah Davidson, & J.F. Gwynn, the two subscribing witnesses to the this 
will, who being duly sworn according to law say that were present and saw and 
heard Thomas Patterson, the testator, sign and seal, publish pronounce and 
declare the foregoing instrument of writing, as and for last will and 
testament, and that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind memery and 
understanding, to the best of our knowledge and belief, and that we signed the 
same as witnessess at his request in his presence and in presence of each
