MACHIAS MAN DIED SUDDENLY FRIDAY
Joseph Edward Carr of Machias, well known locally, his wife, formerly Miss
Frances LaFayette, having been a resident of this village before her marriage,
died suddenly last Friday. Mr. Carr had been in his usual health and his death
from acute dilation of the heart, came as a great shock to his family and
friends.

Mr. Carr, who was 47 years of age, was the son of the late W. H. and Mrs. Carr
of Lancaster, Ontario. His marriage to Miss Frances LaFayette of this village
took place March 12, 1911. For some years following their marriage they
resided in Montreal, later removing to New York state. They had been residents
of Machias for the past year, where Mr. Carr had a fine position with the
Niagara and Lockport Power Company.

Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Rolland, a student in a business
college in Olean; his mother of Lancaster, Ontario; one sister, Mrs. Morton of
Orangeville, Ontario, and five brothers.

Funeral services, which were largely attended, were held t Machias Sunday
afternoon, the remains later being brought to the home of Mrs. Carr's aunt,
Miss Josephine LaFayette, in this village. Brief services were held there
Monday afternoon, Rev. G. R. Williamson and Rev. F. W. Duhl officiating, and
burial was in the local cemetery.

Among those from out of town in attendance at the services here were his
mother and sister, mentioned above, his brother, Rufus Carr of Montreal and
Mrs. George W. Lee of Rochester.
