The last will and testaament of John McIlnay, Sr. of the township of Hopewell 
and County of Bedford and State of Pennsylvania.

I John McIlnay considering the uncertainty of time in this mortal life, and 
being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and 
testament in manner and form following, that is to say:

First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary McIlnay two cows, and one 
bed and spinning wheel and her house on my lands so long as she lives and keeps 
my name: also I give and bequesth to my three sons James, John and William 
McIlnay the sume of one dollar each; also I give and bequesth my three daughters 
Mary Dunlop, Sarah Dowlen and Rebecca Plummer, the sum of one dollar each. And I 
give and bequeath to my granddaughters Amy and Mary Malone(?) Freeford one 
dollar each; Also I give and bequeath to my grandson John Freeford one dollar, 
which said several small somes of money I will and order to be paid to the said 
respective heirs within six months after my decease.

Also I further give and bequeath to my youngest son, Joseph McIlnay his heirs 
and assigns all my land containing thrity two akers[sic] and tenements thereon 
situate and being in Hopewell township and County aforesaid adjoing lands of 
Swoope & King together with all my moveable property, good and chattels 
whatsoever to hold to have and the said Joseph McIlnay his heirs and assigns 
forever, whereas I hereby appoint sole Executor of this my last will and 
testament here by revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirtieth day of 
March one thousand eight hundred and forty seven.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named John McIlnay senior to 
be his last Will and testament in the presens of us who at his request and in 
his presence have subscribe our names as witness thereunto.
