  W. A. DENLING* proprietor of a grocery store at Woodland, Pa., has been a 
resident of this borough for the past twenty-five years, and was born in Indiana 
county, Pa., a son of William and Nancy (McClain) Denling.  Both parents were 
natives of Indiana county, Pa., and the father was a miller by trade.
  W. A. Denling was nine years old when his parents died, and he spent his early 
boyhood days in Indiana county, where he attended the local schools.  At the age 
of sixteen years he came to Woodland, Pa., and began working in the Clay mines 
here.  He worked continuously in these mines for twenty years and in 1905 
established himself in the grocery business at Woodland.  He carries a full line 
of groceries and has met with uninterrupted success.
  Mr. Denling was married in 1882 to Blanch Peters of Woodland and they began 
housekeeping at Wallaceton, Pa.  Her father, now deceased, was one of the 
prominent farmers of this section of the county.  One child has been born to Mr. 
and Mrs. Denling - Mabel.  They hold membership with the Brethren church of 
Woodland.  Mr. Denling is a member of the I. O. O. F. No. 198, of Clearfield, 
and also in the order of Moose, of Clearfield.
