Mrs. Joseph Hinkel

DIES PRAYING IN FIRE
Find Body of Woman on Knees and Hands Clasped

Mount Carmel, Pa., Jan. 27.A disastrous fire on South Market street resulted
In the death of Mrs. Joseph Hinkel, thirty years old, and the mother of three
children. A nine-year-old boy carried out his four-year-old brother,
and then hurried back through the smoke and flames and hunted and carried
out to safety his year-old baby sister. After the fire was extinguished and
the excitement had died down, a teamster examining the ruins found the
woman kneeling, and hands clasped and upraised as if in prayer. Almost all of
her clothing was burned from the body.
